About the event

We are very excited for the CAN group visit to Gateshead’s Energy Centre and Solar Farm - the biggest Mine Heat scheme in the UK. Background available on our website blog, here. We're looking forward to a fascinating outing!

DATE: Tuesday 30 April 2:30pm (up to 2 hours duration)

TIME: Meet at venue 2.25pm Gateshead Energy Company - Google Maps, or gather from 1.30 at Riga café (5 mins walk, towards River Tyne)

LOCATION: Quarryfield Rd, Gateshead NE8 3AT (between Gateshead College and Albany Rd roundabout).

To get there:

  • Bus: Go North East 93/94 (Gateshead College stop, 10 mins walk)
  • Metro: Gateshead Central (10 mins walk)
  • Cycling: on East Gateshead cycleway
  • Two public car parks next door

Accessibility:

  • The tour consists of up to 30 minutes walking (sturdy shoes advisable)
  • 3 flights of stairs (lift available)
  • Accessible gender-neutral toilets onsite.
  • Drinking tap water or hot water available for refill bottles or cups.
