Newcastle Council is one of six local authorities that are part of Tyne & Wear Pension Fund. It invests £230m+ in fossil fuels. If you can spare the time, we attend the quarterly meetings at South Shields Town Hall to observe the decision makers who - unlike other pension schemes - will not agree to end this "dirty investment" by 2030. Meeting starts at 9.30am. On this occasion, there will also be a protest afterwards at 12 noon by members of the pension scheme (there are more than 160,000 members, many in this area).
