Iam now 65 and recall a lesson in 6th form in school on birth control. Even then, we were shown projections on human population growth and it certainly scared me. The environmental movement was in an early stage then. Man made climate change, was not on the agenda. Fast forward and many people are aware of many environmantal issues, EXCEPT it seems, the inevitable consequences of overpopulation by humans. Its simple mathematics, the more humans on the earth, the more water, food, space, transport, heating, cooking and consumption of the essentials and non essentials of life we consume. I fee in a tiny minority with two well known broadcasters in this awareness of the effects of overpopulation. The worls including the UK, is in my view overpopulated by man. Any country, like the UK which has intensive agriculture and still needs to import around half of its food, has a problem. Not to mention energy imports and much more. One less human birth, especially in the developed world, has a massive effect on every environmental issue which humans are responsibe for. To be clear, I am not arguing for war, famine, disease ,genocide or anything which kills anyone alive now. But I believe the human race must take action on stabilising and probably reducing our numbers by consciuos choice.
