Instagram Content Support

Help make exciting and interesting posts and stories for our Instagram platform.

Key skills: experience producing posts, reels, graphics.

Video/Reel Editor 

Use simple online edit resources to make videos showcasing our local climate action work.

Key skills: creativity, interest in editing videos.

e-Newsletter Editor

Help produce our Newsletter that is sent to hundreds of CAN supporters each month.

Key skills: experience producing short reports with headlines and images.

Outreach/Information Gathering

Map out all other local groups relevant to climate issues, liaise with them, maintain a database, and keep our hub info up-to-date

Key skills: written and verbal communication, relationship building.​

Bluesky/Threads

Share updates, images and videos, and engage in conversations with our followers

Key skills: confidence in using Bluesky and Threads​

Podcast Producer

Draw on stories of climate action by organising regular podcast recordings, with support of Sunderland University media department. 

Key skills: planning, research, attention to detail, audio recording.

One-Off Support

It is a big help to have volunteers we can contact for occasional photography, blogs writing, press releases – please join our “pool” to hear about future opportunities to get involved in one-off ways!

Facebook Support

Create posts, share climate related stories, and interact with out Facebook members

Key skills: confidence in using Facebook, willingness to interact with member's comments and messages 

Research Support

Research climate related projects, organisations, and business in Newcastle and the UK. 

Key skills: information gathering, critical thinking, communication.

Event Support

Help us keep up-to-date with events promotion! Research upcoming, climate-related events in the area and add them to our media platforms.

Training and Support

As a local action group affiliated with Friends of the Earth, we’re proud to follow their values, policies, and support methods. FOE offers free training opportunities for all volunteers, helping build skills and confidence across a range of campaigning and community activities. In addition, CAN provides tailored, role-specific training to ensure our volunteers feel equipped and supported in the work they do.
