Between Two Shores: Short film depicting climate mobility
The Between Two Shores short film based on the North East sparks conversation on climate mobility and climate justice on a local and global scale.
"Between Two Shores was developed as part of a participatory project with people with lived experience of forced displacement, exploring migration, climate change and climate justice.
The film depicts a group of people — refugees, writers, activists, environmental practitioners and friends — crossing the ancient tidal Pilgrim’s Path to Holy Island, a landscape shaped by the sea and increasingly vulnerable to climate change. The crossing brings the long history of pilgrimage, sanctuary and hospitality into conversation with contemporary experiences of migration, displacement and climate injustice.
As the group walks together, helping one another across the tidal landscape, the crossing becomes both a way of thinking about much wider experiences of climate-related displacement and an expression of solidarity, interdependence and shared hope. It connects this local landscape to communities around the world already losing homes, livelihoods and places of belonging — a quiet reminder that these questions are not distant from us, and that our futures are bound together."
